As the Technician, Service Support, you will contribute to the seamless delivery of support services focussed on staff workstations across both our Geelong Waurn Ponds and Waterfront campuses. You will utilise strong Information and Communication Technology (ICT) knowledge to provide specialist advice to resolve any incidents, queries and requests within the agreed service standards.

Alongside remote support, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to provide hands-on assistance to users, ensuring that technical issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.

As a Technician, Service Support, you will:

  • Provide systems and applications advice and support to customers, including assisting staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students in the use of computing equipment.
  • Identify and suggest practical, efficient solutions to IT issues. Regularly assess current processes and systems, considering multiple perspectives to improve service delivery. Adopt new technologies and approaches to enhance the quality of service provided.
  • Provide technical support and fault diagnosis and/or resolution within Teaching and Learning Spaces, meeting rooms, labs and people workstations within Deakin’s Manage Operating Environment (MOE).
  • Develop and maintain documentation, technical standards, procedures, and training relating to the university’s digital and end user computing environments.
  • Monitor incoming requests and ensure accurate recording, tracking, and resolution of issues within the established protocols. Maintain awareness of system performance and assist in troubleshooting any service disruptions.

                                                                                                                                       

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundation level.
  • Accreditation in one or more ICT technologies and knowledge of computer hardware and software diagnostic skills.
